Replenishing

During my first marriage, the typical New Years Eve was spent with wild and crazy friends and getting as drunk as possible. The idea of doing so now is totally unappealing.

My "wild and crazy" days ended another lifetime ago. I'm content to stick close to home to ring in the New Year nowadays. I find it relaxing, and I know it's definitely much safer.

From a recent entry on my "foody" blog Appetizing Muse:

One of my long-held traditions on New Years Eve is to prepare homemade Spring Rolls (aka egg rolls). This year will be no different.

Aside from preparing good munchies, another tradition is to enjoy a few glasses of Ryan's Irish Cream over ice whilst playing games (this year will include Joker Scorpion Solitaire and Weird Park: Scary Tales).

The Sci-Fi Channel is also airing their annual two-day marathon of The Twilight Zone, so my New Years Eve is basically set.

My plans might sound boring to some, but they are my idea of pure bliss. It's doubtful I'll gets calls for emergency web design, and I prefer to leave the writing at bay for just one night (resisting temptation all the way) as I try to relax and mentally prepare myself for the year ahead. Who knows what it may bring?
