Favorite Music

I have long been a fan of "hard rock" or "metal" music. This probably comes from my tenure as a "twenty-something" during the late 1980's.

The list of favorites include Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Def Leppard, The Police (and subsequently Sting), Rush (I saw them live in concert), Yes, Pink Floyd, Peter Frampton (I was lucky enough to see him live in concert in Reno), ACDC, Aerosmith, U2, Van Halen (I saw them live in concert), Jeff Beck, Steve Winwood, Living Colour, Lenny Kravitz, Rory Gallagher, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Ted Nugent (I also saw him live in concert), The Beatles, John Lennon, Prince (specifically Purple Rain), Jethro Tull, Elton John, Ivan Neville and many others of the era. Newer favorites are Coldplay, Fuel, Ghost and Nickelback.

As I've grown older, I still prefer the hard rock station on my local radio, but I've also come to appreciate "softer" forms of music. Clannad tops the list, as do Altan, The Corrs, and Enya. I've never been much of a country music fan, but I do enjoy The Eagles and Clint Black on occasion.

I detest mainstream "pop music." One exception is Michael Jackson. No one can take away his musical brilliance, despite the controversy which surrounded his personal life and eventual death. Besides, we share the same birthday, August 29th, although born in different years. Many people discount the validity of star signs, but I'm a firm believer that those who fall under Virgo share an intense and singular passion for their work.
