RIP Maeve Binchy

Posted Tue, 07/31/12

I was saddened to hear about the death of Irish author Maeve Binchy. According to the Daily Mail, she passed away yesterday:

Irish writer Maeve Binchy has died following a short illness, aged 72. The best-selling author was famous for her warm stories about life and love in Ireland and sold more than 40 million books worldwide which were translated in to 30 languages.

I didn't discover Maeve Binchy until 2009, when I found a collection of her books at the local paperback exchange. They included: Firefly Summer, Light a Penny Candle, Silver Wedding, Circle of Friends, The Glass Lake, Tara Road, Scarlet Feather and Quentins.

The books were highly enjoyable. Binchy's writing style was descriptive and well-done, much to my reading taste.

RIP, Maeve.
