Kiki in Stitches
Posted Fri, 06/27/14
Kiki underwent outpatient surgery yesterday for a deep infection. A large abscess had developed on her upper-left rear haunch, requiring medical attention. She now has stitches and a drain.

The veterinarian gave her an injection of long-acting painkiller, which in turn has made her rather spacey. My "day tripper" will be tooling along normally and then all of a sudden stop in her tracks, staring off into space with her blue eyes crossed.

Luckily, Kiki's appetite has not suffered as a result of her surgery. She's eating quite normally, actually more if the truth be known.
My most wrenching moment yesterday came when the veterinarian took Kiki from the examination room to prepare her for surgery. She gave me a sad look and let out a mournful meow as if to say "Please don't let them take me away."
I was in tears when I left the medical clinic, but a few hours later happier than a clam when I picked up my little baby.
