Foot in the Grave

I love British sitcoms. My two top favorites are As Time Goes By and One Foot in the Grave. I haven't seen One Foot in the Grave since I lived in Spokane years ago. Imagine my surprise as I was ready to drop off last Friday night after watching As Time Goes By when One Foot in the Grave began afterward. I came awake quickly. I was happy!
Much to my dismay - and beyond my control for the time being - I happen to live in a "red" state where incongruous words such as "God" or what right-wing extremists consider curse words are usually blocked out, or such programs are not broadcast in the first place. I was literally shocked One Foot in the Grave was being shown at all.
My favorite episode of One Foot in the Grave is titled "Beast in the Cage." Victor Meldrew (Richard Wilson) and his wife Margaret (Annette Crosbie) are stuck in traffic. The story revolves around Victor's "unfettered misery" at being held at bay for hours, and the angry interaction he has with other trapped motorists.

The title song for One Foot in the Grave is sung by Eric Idle (Monty Python).
